F1, Red Bull under indictment and on the defensive: Marko’s astonishment
F1, Red Bull executives comment on Fia investigation into alleged budget cap overruns
Following the Fia’s announcement regarding audits into Red Bull’s alleged budget cap violation, came reactions from the Austrian team’s executives.
“We are not worried, from our point of view everything is in order and I don’t think there can be any serious consequences,” the words of Helmut Marko. “I am surprised that this indiscretion has been made public, we are within a process involving our accountants and those of the FIA. It should not be forgotten that we have we have three realities that are Red Bull Advanced Technologies, Red Bull Technology and Red Bull Powertrains, three realities that should clearly be separated. Have we broken the budget cap? In our opinion no, but it is a process that is still ongoing,” he told Sky.
Thus team principal Horner: “We are quiet, inevitably when there are new regulations there are issues to be clarified, for example there are a couple of things that should have been outside the budget cap that we brought back. We are an easy target to point the finger at, it will be interesting to see the results of investigations and checks by the Federation. My expectation on this matter? That what we have submitted will be confirmed as valid, I have no reason to believe otherwise.”
