Lorenzo Musetti is incredulous: “Never like this in life.”
“Maybe it’s a result of the work I’ve done, the maturity change I’m making.”
Winner of his quarterfinal match against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff – folded in two sets, with the first partial won on tie-break and a second set absolutely dominated – Lorenzo Musetti is enjoying his moment of form. But he doesn’t want to stop there.
Speaking at a press conference after his on-court affirmation, the Carrara tennis player explained what worked best in the match against his opponent, in some ways not hiding a sense of surprise, but also finding explanations for his upgrade in the fundamental that made the difference.
“I think I’ve never served so well in my life. It never happened to me to make so many aces, but maybe it’s a result of the work I’ve done, the change in maturity I’m making, so I’m really happy,” the Tuscan began.
In addition to being intent on going further in the tournament in Sofia – where he will face Swiss Marc-Andrea Hüsler in the semifinals – Musetti is already looking forward to his ‘home’ tournament: the Unicredit Firenze Open, scheduled from October 8 to 16: “Surely since the Florence event was announced all my friends are ready and loaded even to drop out of the University just to come and see me and support me. So I will definitely be lucky to have the cheer on my side. but I am definitely doing my best to have it here in Sofia as well. Let’s think about tomorrow and how best to approach the match,” he concluded.
