Napoli, Luciano Spalletti wants to go all the way
“I like to look at what will be and try to bring something home in the future,” said the coach of the Azzurri.
Luciano Spalletti, Napoli coach, participated in the usual press conference on the day of the eve of Napoli – Torino, a match valid for the eighth round of Serie A. The coach, answering questions from the journalists present, touched on various points.
He initially commented on the break for national team commitments, “When our players go to the national team we follow them day by day by phone. It was good for someone to play these matches because he had played a little less with us, someone like the Italians, having played the double match followed up on the talk of Napoli’s way of interpreting, of playing Napoli. We did not have any injuries, just followed up with normal work. This morning at training I saw them all present and focused with their heads developing a very good job. Despite the two weeks we are ready for tomorrow’s fixture.”
Later he added, “Every match serves as a reminder of whether we are a strong Napoli side or not. It goes beyond the evaluation or importance of a match because the path will be long and difficult. Every match has a special value because there are always three points up for grabs and because it confirms that you are working well and doing the right things. I don’t see the possibility that a result can change the history of a championship. It can give an extra boost however then the work is in the long run.”
“The balance I think will last a long time because the teams are all very well equipped. It was difficult at the beginning to identify who would dictate the timing. Some teams lost a few points however the situation is momentary and they can recover. I don’t see anything special about this start. It is too early to make assessments as far as I am concerned,” he said, referring to the current calssification.
Spalletti finally concluded, “We are ambitious and want to give continuity to this series of results. We will see that we go all the way. I like to look at what will be and try to bring something home in the future.”
