Dorothea Wierer makes no mistake and takes back the podium
Dorothea Wierer on the podium
Dorothea Wierer took third place in the women’s World Cup sprint held in Pokljuka, Slovenia. The South Tyrolean finisher put on a very solid race, with no mistakes in the shot put and some very good release times, especially in the standing shot put, which were essential to take her second individual podium of the season – third counting the women’s relay in Hochfilzen -, on the highest circuit. For Wierer, a delay of 18″7 from Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg – first with an error-free time of 20’52” -, the author of a near-perfect race with 10/10 on the shot and the second overall time on the narrow skis.
Second placed French Julia Simon, also without mistakes, lagged 6″9 behind the Swedish leader. Fourth was Slovakia’s Paulina Batovska Fialkova at 26″5 with one mistake ahead of Czech Marketa Davidova fifth at 28″7. Rounding out the top ten is Denise Herrmann, sixth with two errors but with the best time on skis a good 10 seconds better than Oeberg, ahead of the other Swede Linn Persson seventh and transalpine Sophie Chauveau eighth. Ninth was Norway’s Ingrid Tandrevold at 46″0, while in 10th were Finland’s Mari Eder and France’s Lou Jeanmonnot (0-0), both at 52″2.
