Simone Inzaghi furious: “A serious mistake was made.”

At the microphones of Sky Sport Simone Inzaghi commented on the incident involving Acerbi. The defender scored at stoppage time after referee Sacchi had stopped play for a contact deemed foul: “We are very angry because there was an error by the referee on Acerbi’s goal: after five years of VAR, a foul was whistled in which there are two Monza players tripping each other. It would have been 3-1 and the game would have been won by us: now we are here talking about a draw that resulted from a serious mistake. VAR has been there for five years, so you have to wait and then see: we probably would have won. There is a lot of regret.”

“We have to move forward, knowing that we have to work harder and better, recovering all the players at 100 percent,” Inzaghi continued. “We came from two important victories, now we slow down with this draw: Monza played a good match, but at 3-1 we would have closed it out. I will tell the team that we have to look at one game at a time, trying to win as much as possible: unfortunately we lost points at the beginning of the championship.”
