Jannik Sinner, speedy recovery: “Will win a Slam.”
Jannik Sinner will participate in Kooyong Classic despite problem suffered in Adelaide
Jannik Sinner gets right back on the court: after suffering a hip problem in Adelaide, the Italian tennis player at first seemed determined to skip the Kooyong Classic, but the positive outcome of examinations has prompted him to participate in the exhibition tournament scheduled in the coming days in Melbourne, before the Australian Open.
Event director Peter Johnson praised him in an interview with Supertennis: “At the US Open, when he had match point against Alcaraz, he came really close to winning the tournament. To me, he’s one of those three or four players that you can now almost certainly say will win a Slam.”
“When I was running the St. Petersburg tournament, we gave him a wild card in 2019. He lost in the first round, but you could see he had extraordinary qualities. Now in Australia with an Australian coach like Darren Cahill the audience will be closer to him, because they like this association here very much.”
