Rafael Nadal announces a new addition to his calendar
Rafael Nadal will play the ATP 500 in Dubai
Rafael Nadal will return to play the Dubai tournament. The Iberian tennis player has not played the event in the Emirates since 2008, when he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Andy Roddick, who later won the title. This was announced by the tournament itself via a tweet posted on the profile of the official Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships page.
Executive Vice President and CEO of Dubai Duty Free Colm McLoughlin announced the presence of the twenty-two-time Slam champion this way, “As one of the most recognizable personalities in world sports and one of the most decorated players to ever tread the tennis courts, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Rafa back to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after 15 years. The last time Rafa played in Dubai he had won three Slams. He returns having accumulated more Grand Slam titles than any other male player in history.”
