Larissa Iapichino in Ancona

A new weekend of indoor meets is coming up at indoor facilities throughout Italy with a large turnout of athletes, also seeking standards for the February tricolor indoor meet in Ancona.

The weekend’s “center court” will again be the Palaindo in the Marche capital, which will host Larissa Iapichino’s season debut on Sunday afternoon, January 15. The Fiamme Gialle’s Azzurra will open 2023 with a test in the 60 meters, a distance that is certainly not usual for the Florentine jumper, who last tackled it in 2016 as a cadet and who in the youth categories has tried her hand much more often in the 60 hurdles.

On the Ancona straight, she will test herself in the sprint (first race at 3 p.m., second at 5 p.m.) exactly one week before her debut in the long, which is set for Sunday, Jan. 22, at the U23 Mediterranean Championships in Valencia with the blue jersey.
