Cristiano Ronaldo sold a Ballon d’Or.
The Portuguese striker reportedly accepted an offer from one of Israel’s richest men
Cristiano Ronaldo has sold one of his five Ballon d’Or awards, specifically that of 2013, his second accolade as the best player on the planet.
The Mirror reported the news: the incident would date back more than five years, to 2017. CR7 allegedly sold the award through a charity auction to Idan Ofer, one of Israel’s richest men, for the total sum of 600,000 euros, which went to the Make-a-wish foundation.
Ronaldo in that edition won the title of best player, beating arch-rival Lionel Messi and French star Franck Ribery. The Portuguese star also won the 2008, 2014, 2016 and 2017 Ballon d’Or. Currently at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo is expected to make his debut in the local league next Jan. 22, at home against Ettifaq.
