Valentino Rossi, new surprise offer for the future
BMW explained that Valentino Rossi could test the M Hybrid V8 prototype: Le Mans 24 Hours in the crosshairs
Valentino Rossi is preparing to start his first season with BMW at the Dubai 24 Hours, where he will take turns on the track with other drivers in the German manufacturer’s GT3 car. The nine-time world champion took to the track as early as Thursday for the first free practice session.
But BMW is already looking to the future: motorsport chief Andreas Roos to Sportscar365 revealed plans for the Doctor to test the M Hybrid V8 prototype, which will participate in the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. “We have the idea of doing a test with Valentino, since Rossi has never driven a car like the M Hybrid. We need to test it and see how it performs. We could have this test towards the end of the year, at the moment we are all very busy with preparations for the new season.”
“It’s too early to talk about what Valentino will do in the future,” Roos explained. “We will do some testing and from there we will see the next steps to take. There it will be clear whether he will have a chance to race the M Hybrid full-time or not, we will figure out how and if we have a chance to continue.”
