Mercedes, Toto Wolff doesn’t hold back: ‘We are sad’

Toto Wolff said goodbye to James Vowles.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, with the German team since 2013, took it upon himself to say goodbye and wish James Vowles the best for the future. Indeed, the British engineer, after 13 seasons with the Brackley-based house, was presented on Friday, January 13, as the new team principal of Williams.

“Having worked with him since I first joined the team in 2013. I know how diligent, capable and talented he is, and I have derived great satisfaction from watching James grow and develop over the past ten years,” explained the Austrian executive.

“Although we are of course sad to have to say goodbye to him, we wish him every success and are delighted that he will take the next step in his career with Williams, a strong technical partner of ours and a place that is very close to my heart,” Wolff continued, emphasizing his great affection for Vowles.
