Italy to applause in the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup Super-G in Sankt Anton, Austria. After Saturday’s stunning victory Federica Brignone almost repeated herself by finishing second on Sunday, 15 hundredths behind winner Lara Gut-Behrami.

Third place went to Marta Bassino, who finished 19 hundredths behind the Swiss skier. Stopping instead at the foot of the podium was Elena Curtoni, fourth ahead of Austria’s Siebenhofer and the other Swiss Gisin. Brignone thanks to her splendid weekend is now leader of the specialty ranking, ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami.

Sofia Goggia did not participate in the race after her fall on Saturday: the Bergamasque skier’s goal is the downhill in Cortina, scheduled for next week.
