Jannik Sinner’s coach Simone Vagnozzi took stock to Sky on the eve of the start of the Australian Open. In Adelaide immediately physical problems for the Italian: “Jannik is doing well, he is training, the recovery is going in the right direction. We are very happy for how the situation was in Adelaide, for how it is today instead. Definitely there was something, but the good news is that it was nothing serious.”
“Definitely the serve is something we worked a lot on in preparation, like the physical aspect,” explained Vagnozzi. “He still gained 3 kg of muscle compared to last year, he is improving in that part there, he is recovering better between points. The luck is that he can still improve on so many aspects and anyway he is already a very strong player.”
The goal is to get to the top 8 in the world: “We want to get to the Masters at the end of the year, so definitely top 8 in the world. Then to get there you have to do well in the important tournaments, another goal we set is to play a few more tournaments. So to be able to play more and do better than last year, finish in a higher position.”
