Velvet debut for Sinner at the Australian Open. The Italian, No. 1 seed in the men’s draw, disposed of Edmund in three sets (6-4, 6-0, 6-2 the match’s partials). Less than two hours of play for the South Tyrolean, who dominated the match, never letting the Englishman have a single chance to get into the match.
After brilliantly passing the “first” in Melbourne, Sinner will now face Argentina’s Etcheverry. There is no precedent between the two. It should be mentioned that, in this edition of the Australian Open, the first Slam of the season, there are as many as 12 Italians at the start. Sinner was the first Italian to take the court.
