Jannik Sinner exposes himself on Australian Open debut
Sinner exposed himself after victory over Edmund
Jannik Sinner won in the opening round of the Australian Open over Britain’s Kyle Edmund, who was also beaten a few days ago at the Adelaide tournament.
The South Tyrolean tennis player spoke after the match, saying he was very pleased with his victory in the first round of the first Slam of the year: “I expected this match a little bit because I know the type of player, we played against each other in Adelaide. I knew he would start a little bit more aggressive, because physically he would go on his legs in a three out of five match. So I held my own right away, then in the second set I broke right away. That gave me confidence and from there I played better, moving the ball around. I played very good tennis. I felt very good on the court, now I have to recover as best I can for the next match, which will be tough.”
In fact, the 2001 class will face Argentina’s Tomas Etcheverry in the second round: “We’ve practiced a few times together, so we both know what to expect. He is a solid player. There are so many variables. I expect a tough match, let’s see the day after tomorrow how it will go.”
