Italian Super Cup, Milan-Inter: the probable formations
Likely lineups
On Wednesday, January 18 at 8 p.m. Italian time, the match between AC Milan and Inter Milan will be staged at the King Sa’ud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Italian Super Cup. The Rossoneri earned access to this match by winning the 2021/22 championship while Inzaghi’s men by lifting the Coppa Italia last season.
The two coaches are expected to rely on the starters to win the first trophy of the season: among the Nerazzurri ranks Matteo Darmian will still be preferred over Denzel Dumfries, who is fatigued since after the World Cup and always at the center of numerous market rumors. The injured Romelu Lukaku will be on the bench, thus leaving room for the pair seen against Verona, formed by Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.
Like Inzaghi, Stefano Pioli will also make no changes from the last eleven seen in the league. The lineup will be the same as seen in Lecce, with Tonali, disqualified in the league, in place of Pobega. Expected from another bench is Charles De Ketelaere.
Likely lineups.
INTER (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Dzeko. Coach: Simone Inzaghi
MILAN (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali, Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud. Coach: Stefano Pioli
