Australian Open, Jannik Sinner doesn’t lose his cool and recovers Fucsovics: he’s in the round of 16
The South Tyrolean doesn’t lose his cool and makes a comeback
Jannik Sinner’s big win at the Australian Open, with the South Tyrolean winning in a comeback in five sets (6-4, 6-4, 1-6, 2-6, 0-6) over Hungarian opponent Marton Fucsovics in the match that was valid for access to the round of 16 of the first Slam of the year.
Bad start of the class of 2001 who fails to get into gear against the number 78 of the Atp ranking: the first set is completely to be erased while in the second the real Jannik Sinner begins to glimpse. Despite this Fucsovics takes a 2-0 lead having closed both partials on the score of 6-4.
From the third set he completely changes the script of the match, not before conceding another break ball to his opponent. After the danger escaped Sinner puts the score on ice and closes 1-6 reopening the match.
The fourth set also does not begin in the most encouraging way possible, with the Azure continuing to make free errors, going down by two games. The reaction, however, is immediate and rabid, with the 2001 class leaving no more room for the Hungarian: the final score is 2-6.
Last set without history with Sinner who, after having definitely taken over the match, makes no more mistakes, also taking advantage of the big drop of Fucsovics, who can no longer hold his own against the 2001 class, who in the round of 16 will face the number 3 on the scoreboard Stefanos Tsitsipas, in the rematch of last year, when it was the Greek who interrupted Sinner’s path to the quarterfinals.
