Jannik Sinner is aware of the shift in gear: “I changed the tactical plan.”
Sinner shifted gears against Fucsovics.
Jannik Sinner had a tough time: the South Tyrolean had gone down two sets against Hungarian opponent Marton Fucsovics, only to be able to come back thanks to a very clear change of gears starting in the third set. The Italian finished with the scores of 6-4, 6-4, 1-6, 2-6, 0-6.
“The first two sets were very hard for me. I had to change something, I felt the ball pretty well, but I couldn’t close points. I did a good athletic training in the winter, that helped me a lot in the comeback, I felt good,” Sinner said right after the end of the match.
“I had gone on the court with a tactical plan, then I had to change it on the run because Fucsovics was playing very well. I started to shoot more on his backhand,” explained the South Tyrolean.
Finally, the Italian revealed the relationship between him and Fucsovics: “For me he is a friend, we often train together. He also had some physical problems recently and I wish him well.”
