Novak Djokovic puts his injury behind him
Novak Djokov reassuring about his injury
Novak Djokovic appears to have put his left thigh injury behind him. The Serbian tennis player spoke this way to Jim Courier’s microphones after his victory over Alex De Minaur: “Today I had the goal to win three sets to zero. So many things need to be managed on and off the court. The first four to five games were struggles, then I felt looser and freer; I felt better and better at hitting. He got nervous and I saw a chance to capitalize on chances. Tennis is dynamic; things can always change within a few points. I always stayed focused and played my best match of the season so far.”
“Today very good, I didn’t feel anything, so I would say all is well. Thanks to my physiotherapist. I also thank God. I don’t want to celebrate too early, but I’m still in the tournament. In the first game I felt very good, in the second game I didn’t; so, things can change very quickly. I don’t take anything for granted but I’m very happy with how I moved tonight and I hope I can continue like this,” he said about his injury.
Finally, a comment on his next opponent, Andrey Rublev: “He has been in the top 10 for quite some time now. He is very explosive. The type of game is similar to De Minaur’s so I hope we can set the same match.”
