Fabio Jakobsen wins the second stage

Fabio Jakobsen won the second stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico, the 210-kilometer Camaiore-Follonica. In second and third place were Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Deceuninck) and Fernando Gaviria Rendon (Movistar Team), respectively…

“I knew I was fast but Gaviria tried to get ahead. Jasper Philipsen and I quickly caught up. I wasn’t sure if I had won. There are a lot of sprints that are decided at the finish line these days. It’s nice to have reached 40 wins as a pro. I didn’t start the season the way I wanted to but my condition is good now. Today’s is my first victory in Italy, something special since my name is Fabio in honor of Fabio Casartelli. I remember that during the Tour de France I met his parents during the memorial at Portet d’Aspet, a very touching moment. Today’s victory is a little bit his too,” said the Soudal Quick-Step rider.
