Stefano Pioli enjoys qualifying for the Champions League quarterfinals: “We did it, we did well. I asked for personality, we could dribble more and avoid going over, but we never gave up. We deserved for the way we played the two games. Milan has to take one step at a time, first it was important to pass the group, now the round of 16 and now we will wait for the draw.

“We wanted to play with continuity, we must always be like this even if the Italian league is difficult. We have to play with this energy and desire to get results. Playing in the Champions League is rewarding, now we have to recover in the league to be in the top four.

“From here we have to bring the enthusiasm to start again. I like to think that nothing is impossible in sports. Then clear, only the strongest in Europe will remain and the difficulties will increase, but I am sure that all the experiences we had in Europe, especially the negative ones, helped us to move up a level. Now we have to take advantage of these positive experiences to grow in self-esteem and play the quarters with conviction and confidence.”
