Torino, Cairo: “Spent like no other, I am ambitious”

Granata patron Cairo: “I backed and supported Juric in everything.”

Torino president Urbano Cairo in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport spoke about Torino: “With Juric we have very open private talks, I wanted him very strongly almost two years ago and I would have wanted him back in 2020 when he chose to stay at Verona. I backed him and supported him in everything, I gave the okay to all the requests, from the nutritionist to other top professionals to the beautiful restaurant. And many other things we will do.”

Regarding investments in the market: “When Juric asked me for Ilic, telling me that he was very important for him because he knew him and he had incredible qualities, I accommodated him. And you can see that he is a special player even if physically he is not at the top. I spent in the January market like no one else, I am more than ambitious, otherwise from scratch I would not have become the first Italian publisher. So on my part there is all the desire to do well and follow Juric’s push, which is then mine. We have improved a lot and we still have to do it: we are in ninth place in the league one point behind seventh, and we have played great games with great teams but throwing away points with smaller clubs.”
