F1, Mercedes: Mick Schumacher sends a message to Lewis Hamilton
Mick Schumacher remains optimistic despite Mercedes’ bad start to season
Several days have passed since the opening weekend of the Formula 1 season in Bahrain, but at home in Mercedes, discussions continue about the disappointing result against not only the impregnable Red Bull, but also against Aston Martin and Ferrari, which were able to place Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, respectively, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, with george Russell also finishing behind Lance Stroll.
Counterbalancing Hamilton’s ire and Toto Wolff’s less than optimistic messages come the words of Mick Schumacher, from this season a reserve driver for the Brackley stable, addressed first and foremost to the multiple world champion. “Mercedes,” said Michael’s son, speaking on the ‘F1 Nation’ podcast, “has always shown that it is one of the best teams at the level of in-season updates: Lewis can be optimistic, I firmly believe in this team. Otherwise, I myself would not have chosen it for my career.”
The F1 Circus will be stationary next weekend: the second GP of the season is scheduled in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the race taking place on Sunday, March 19, at 6 p.m. Italian time.
