Berrettini starts again in Phoenix
Matteo Berrettini is in a hurry to fight back. After his ugly elimination on his debut in the Indian Wells Masters 1000 at the hands of Japanese tennis player Taro Daniel, the Italian has decided to start over in Phoenix, where he will play the 175 challenger thanks to a wild card granted to him by the tournament organizers.
This was announced by the Roman tennis player himself via a post on Instagram, which reads, “As I have always done, trust the process, work hard and stay focused. The season is long and I will be back to my best soon. I really appreciate all your support. My team and I have decided to play in Phoenix next week. Thank you to the tournament for the wild card.”
Berrettini will be the number one seed in the U.S. tournament and will face Belarusian tennis player Ilya Ivashka in the first round.
