Sofia Goggia already looks to the future and reveals her ambition
Sofia Goggia doesn’t want to stop at four Downhill Cups
It is a decidedly serene Sofia Goggia who is looking forward to the last World Cup weekend in Soldeu, on the Pyrenean snows of the Principality of Andorra. On the sidelines of the downhill events (which saw her finish third behind Nina Ortlieb and Ilka Stuhec), the Bergamasque spoke not only about her current impressions, but also about her future ambitions, revealing that she wants to compete in giant slalom again.
“I’m happy because having already won the Cup with 200 points makes one feel really serene,” Goggia told the official Fisi channels. “All the other three times I always arrived with much tighter gaps. This year I can race in peace and then devote myself to the Super-G. It is a salty snowpack is therefore very slippery. Today the snowpack became more compact and it was definitely better.”
“This year I had opened up the prospect of returning to giant slalom,” he later revealed, “but then the hand injury forced me to revise my plans because I was no longer able to even do giant slalom in training. I will try again starting with four Cups won, which is not bad.”
