Vincent Kriechmayr wins the last downhill of the season in Soldeu and confirms his second place in the specialty ranking, behind Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. The Austrian champion finishes with a time of 1’26″59, 9 hundredths ahead of Romed Baumann and 13 ahead of Germany’s Andreas Sander.
The Italians are just behind the podium, with Dominik Paris finishing fifth, 27 hundredths off the leader and 14 hundredths off the podium, and Mattia Casse sixth, 30 hundredths off the leader. Florian Schieder, ninth at the end of the race 46 hundredths behind, also did well.
“There was definitely a chance to make a difference,” Paris said. “I probably took a little too many risks in the final part and lost some speed. However, there were a few little mistakes all along the track. The overall balance of the season is easy to make: I could certainly have done better.”
