Sinner surpasses Nadal in rankings

The victory in two sets (6-1 6-4) over Stan Wawrinka in the round of 16 of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 earned not only access to the quarterfinals of the California tournament, but also an important milestone: as of Monday, the South Tyrolean tennis player will be ahead of Rafael Nadal in the ATP ranking. Sinner in fact, with the victory over the Swiss tennis player gained another 90 points that allowed him to overtake the Spanish phenomenon, absent in Indian Wells due to an injury that has kept him in the pits since the Australian Open.

Currently, Sinner thus moves closer to the Top 10, moving up to 12th position, more than 200 points away from 10th place in the rankings, occupied by Taylor Fritz. Not surprisingly, the American will be the very next opponent of Jannik, who will thus have one more reason to try to hit his first semifinal in Indian Wells.
