Tense situation at Ferrari after the flop of the new car

Ferrari is facing a nightmarish start in the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. The Cavallino finished sixth and seventh on Sunday in Saudi Arabia with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, and seems destined for a season as a supporting driver, when expectations were totally different.

Among the most bewildered and concerned is Frederic Vasseur: the new team principal hoped to inherit a totally different situation from his predecessor Mattia Binotto.

“The first thing I will ask the engineers? ‘Let’s not tell str…’. The most important thing in situations like these is to understand why we are not doing well, we must not tell ourselves str… We have to change, find out where we are going wrong, and push. No more words, no more speeches,” are the words reported by Corriere della Sera.

“Excuse me for using a bad term, but the meaning for me is clear: the potential of the car is good, maybe not enough as good as Red Bull’s, but we can’t exploit it except in some moments.”

In two weeks in Melbourne will come more updates to the car: “We try to keep calm, that’s my job, it’s useless to get scared now. It wasn’t all doom and gloom here, we had improved at certain times compared to Bahrain, the real problem started when we put on the hard tires. We have to stay calm and understand what we are doing wrong. A car capable of aiming for the front row in qualifying that then goes nowhere in the race is unimaginable.”
