Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the top of the ATP rankings.

With his victory at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the top of the ATP ranking. However, the Iberian tennis player to the microphones of Tennis Channel admitted that the absence of Novak Djokovic made things easier: “It means a lot to me to be number one again. It was a goal for me but it was definitely easier because Novak Djokovic did not play. Being number one and going to Miami gives me a lot of confidence to compete at my best there.”

“I started the year very well after winning Buenos Aires and pushing myself to the final in Rio de Janeiro. But I suffered a lot from injuries during this period. I injured my legs for 4 months-it was hard to stay mentally strong because I missed the tournaments I wanted to play but I worked a lot with my team. I believe in what I am doing right now with them and that is the most important thing,” Alcaraz concluded.
