Virtus, Baraldi armors Scariolo: “And we will strengthen the team.”

Virtus CEO Baraldi: “First in the league? We have shown something more.”

Virtus Bologna CEO Luca Baraldi in an interview with Il Resto del Carlino commented on the lone first place in the Serie A standings: “We beat Milan in Milan, then we have already met twice with both Tortona and Venice, so our current standings position is deserved because we have faced the best teams and if we are first alone it means that we have shown something more than the others.”

“It should not be underestimated that we were missing four important players such as Cordinier, Ojeleye, Pajola and Teodosic, but the group proved to be very united and was able to face difficulties with great compactness. Euroleague? We lacked experience: playing such a demanding event alongside an otherwise onerous championship is not easy.”

The gaze is already projected to the future: “The points from which to start next season? Definitely Sergio Scariolo, who again on Sunday showed that he is a great leader. He is a great coach and his abilities are there for all to see. Then we have several expiring players and at the appropriate time we will see who to confirm, but I already say that it is our intention to strengthen the team.”
