Christof Innerhofer completes downhill “hat trick” in La Thuile

Third Italian men’s downhill title for Christof Innnerhofer, who won on the La Thuile slope with a time of 59″93. The 38-year-old financier from Gais, already winner in the specialty in 2018 and 2016, conceded the trio by preceding Pietro Zazzi (Reit Ski Team Bormio) from Valtellina by 67 hundredths; Guglielmo Bosca (Centro Sportivo Esercito) and Mattia Casse (Fiamme Oro Moena), tied for third with 75 hundredths behind, completed the podium. Off the podium were Nicolò Molteni (Centro Sportivo Carabinieri), fifth at 1″25, Emanuele Buzzi (Centro Sportivo Carabinieri) sixth at 1″32 and Dominik Paris (Centro Sportivo Carabinieri) seventh at 1″33.

The competition also awarded the tricolor shield in the youth category (born between 2002 and 2006) and saw the success of Gregorio Bernardi (eighth at the finish line), who also set the stage that counted for the Dicoflor Italian Grand Prix. Behind him were Marco Abruzzese (tenth) and Max Perathoner (twelfth), while the GP Italia Dicoflor ranking (reserved for athletes who are not part of national teams) saw Leonardo Rigamonti in second place (fifteenth) and Nicolò Nosenzo in third (sixteenth). In the GP Italia Dicoflor aspirant category (born in 2005 and 2006 not part of national teams) stage success to Glauco Antonioli (nineteenth) over Pietro Broglio (twenty-fourth) and Lorenzo Sambrizzi (twenty-ninth). Of note was thirty-sixth place for Matteo Marsagli,a on the last downhill of his career. The supergiant is scheduled for Thursday, March 23.
