MotoGp: Bagnaia dominates in Portugal, Viñales second. Marquez nightmare
Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia triumphs in the first round of the MotoGp season and repeats his success in the Sprint race
Pecco Bagnaia dominates the MotoGp weekend in Portugal. The Ducati rider after winning Saturday’s Sprint Race also won the traditional Sunday race: on the podium with him Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) and Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46).
Bagnaia took the lead of the race on the second lap and did not give it up until the finish line. The Ducati centaur is marked tightly by Viñales in the first part of the race, then a little more than halfway through the race he increases the pace and flies to victory, without any particular worries.
The battle for third place between Ducati VR46 rider Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini) and KTM centaur Jack Miller was exciting: Valentino Rossi’s protégé came out on top, then Zarco beat Alex Marquez for fourth place.
Race to forget for Marc Marquez, who exaggerates a braking move on the third lap and hits the Aprilia rider Oliveira. Both riders are unharmed, Marquez upon returning to the pits is booed by the furious Portuguese crowd. Nightmare Sunday also for Martin, who conditioned by the Oliveira-Marquez incident finds himself in the rear and then falls in an attempt to climb back up.
In the 10 also Quartararo, eighth and struggling throughout the race, and Aleix Espargaró, ninth.
Pol Espargaró and Enea Bastianini, both out after crashes on Saturday, did not participate in the race.
