Darren Cahill pitches Jannik Sinner: “He has everything to become number one.”
Darren Cahill charges Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner’s supercoach Darren Cahill gave an interview to ‘La Repubblica’ in which he stressed his pupil’s great potential: “Jannik Sinner has everything to become the number one player in the world. Before my arrival he was already a great player, among the top ten in the ranking: he has incredible weapons and was well coached. Now you have to look at his matches against the best tennis players around and figure out what keeps him from beating them. Then work on it. It definitely needs time, a couple of years and a lot of match situations.”
“Sinner can improve his serve, his transition game, be dominant from the backcourt. But the most important thing, when you coach great players, is to keep improving their strengths,” Cahill stressed. “For example, Jannik moves incredibly well, so we spend a lot of time on that. It’s great that he’s so willing to try new things and try to improve, as long as we don’t stray too far from the kind of player he is.”
“It also takes a little bit of luck. Being in the right place at the right time. I think a lot of success is coming: results come because champions are not only so in the mind, but also in the heart,” concluded the Australian.
