F1, Ferrari: Frederic Vasseur does not hide his disappointment
Vasseur does not hide disappointment after qualifying in Melbourne
Frederic Vasseur commented on disappointing qualifying at the Australian Grand Prix with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc starting from fifth and seventh respectively. “Today’s qualifying was extremely tight and unfortunately things didn’t go our way,” the Frenchman began, “In Q3 we were on the limit with the time towards the end of the session and so we avoided doing the preparation lap with Charles, while Carlos failed to put the lap together, losing a couple of tenths in Turn 1, without which he could have been second or third.
“However, the points are awarded on Sunday,” added Ferrari’s team principal, “after Jeddah we have been working to get a consistent and solid performance from the SF-23 at the race pace level. We will mainly focus on ourselves and prepare the race in the best way to make a comeback: overtaking is not easy on this track, but we know it can be an unpredictable race.”
