Red Bull: tension after Sergio Perez’s mistake
Sergio Perez in the crosshairs after qualifying mistake: Marko denies it
Some tension in the Red Bull box after Sergio Perez’s mistake in Q1 of the Australian GP qualifying, which will force the Mexican to start from the last position. Perez went off the track in Turn 3, as had already happened to him in the third free practice, and spoke of a technical problem: “There was a technical problem that we already had this morning and that we thought we had fixed, it’s a problem that affects the braking and we hope we can fix it by tomorrow, otherwise it will be a very difficult race. It has nothing to do with the tires, the problem of warming up the tires I think applies to everyone. Our problem is related to the brake balance. It kept changing. It is difficult to overtake here, but we have a very strong car and I look forward to tomorrow.”
Shortly afterwards, however, Red Bull executive Helmut Marko denied to Servus TV: “The technical problem was there in PL3, but in qualifying it was not like in the free practice sessions. It was a bit slippery at the beginning and unfortunately he slipped out.”
