Jannik Sinner disappointed. But he’s already aiming for clay
Jannik Sinner did not hide his disappointment in a press conference after his defeat to Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Miami Masters 1000: “Obviously I am disappointed about today. I woke up not in the best possible way. I felt a little bit bad, but we tried to go on the court, giving it a try. Unfortunately, today was not my day. However, I don’t want to take anything away from Daniil. He was serving incredibly well. He was very brave with the way he played today. Obviously he is one of the best players in the world. I gave it a try. Today was not my day. Now it’s on to the clay court season.”
And about clay Jannik added, “No, I think I’m stronger on concrete, actually, because when I was very young I always played on concrete, especially indoors, because where I come from there is a lot of snow. Certainly in the last few years I’ve played well on clay as well, that’s for sure, but I think my game adapts a little bit better to concrete. But I have done well on clay as well, yes. I also started very well last year by making quarters in Monte-Carlo. Lost 7-6 in the third there as well. So I’m looking forward to that tournament and I know I can improve there as well. Last year I felt pretty good on clay as well, but, you know, it’s always hard in the beginning when you don’t have much time to adapt. It’s going to be a very interesting week.”
