Filippo Volandri extols the evolution of Jannik Sinner
Volandri: “A pride to see Jannik come so close to winning his first Masters 1000.”
During an interview with the microphones of “Ubitennis,” Italian Davis Cup team coach Filippo Volandri spoke about the moment Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti are going through.
“It was a pride to see Jannik come so close to bringing home the first Masters 1000 of his career and it was crazy to see his win over Alcaraz. We are happy to have a player who is writing another page of our tennis. He is improving in many aspects: from adaptability to different surfaces to physical fitness. His game is continuing to evolve because of the skills he has acquired. His goal is to become world number one and bring home Slams and tournaments, and he has every chance to do so. We have to give him time to work calmly, but I am sure he has great potential,” the coach said about the South Tyrolean player.
“Both Matteo and Lorenzo are working hard with their teams to get out of this negative moment. Berrettini is focusing on himself and I am confident that in the coming weeks he will be able to return to his level. I think for both of them a good result in the Monte Carlo tournament can restore their confidence and awareness,” Volandri added.
