Bad loss to De Minaur gives Murray pause for thought

Andy Murray was shocked by his poor debut performance in Monte Carlo against Australian Alex De Minaur, who overwhelmed him in two sets 6-1, 6-3.

Clay has never been the main course for the Briton, who has played very little on this surface in recent years. After the match, the Scot was very hard on himself. “It was a horrible match, one of the worst matches of my career. There was nothing good in my match against De Minaur, although I don’t know exactly what it was due to. I didn’t even play well in Miami, but this match was even worse,” he told The Herald.

Murray is ready for drastic decisions: “There is no alternative, the question is simply whether to compete during the season on clay or not. I will have to think very well together with my team about what I will do in the coming months, whether to continue on red or train differently. This defeat is demoralizing because I was feeling good.”
