Jannik Sinner outspoken after big scare
Jannik Sinner’s words after the victory against Hubert Hurkacz
Jannik Sinner advanced to the round of 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, defeating Hubert Hurkacz in a comeback with a score of 3-6 7-6 6-1. After the match, the South Tyrolean tennis player spoke to Sky Sports microphones, “It was a very tough match, Hurkacz played very well.”
“Throughout the first set and half of the second set he was better than me, when I broke him I was able to play it even, find more confidence and take over the match. I found myself in a very complicated situation having to save the match-point. I put all my energy into that moment, then in the third set I was able to level up and overtake him,” said the Italian number one.
“I am happy for Italian tennis. In case of a derby in the quarters I think both Musetti and I will feel the pressure. Instead, if I face Djokovic I will have to prepare the match differently. Today I didn’t express my best tennis and I didn’t find rhythm. It was the first real clay match of the season,” added Sinner.
