Backlash. Matteo Berrettini raised the white flag on the eve of the round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters, just hours before his match with Denmark’s Holger Rune, due to an injury suffered in the nearly three-hour match he won against Cerundolo.
“I have a second degree tear in my internal oblique muscle,” the Roman wrote on Instagram.
The Italian troop at the tournament in the Principality has thus lost another unit: it remains to be seen when Berrettini will be able to return to play.
