New note from the Lombard company on the measure taken by the federal court: “Thus compromising our future”

Pallacanestro Varese in a note returned to comment on the heavy penalty of 15 points imposed by the Federal Court: “Regarding the measure taken on April 13, 2023 by the Federal Court, the Varese Basketball Club reiterates that the formal irregularity that has been contested was not committed by its managers. And in any case, the contested irregularity did not generate any advantage for the Company; it did not affect in any way the registration for the current championship; it does not concern relations with current members, but with a former player.”

“Moreover, the Varese Basketball Company has settled all outstanding debts due for many months already. In light of this evidence, the sanction hypothesized for the aforementioned possible irregularity of an administrative nature is disproportionate and such as to alter the sporting result and jeopardize the very future of the Company.”

“We reiterate,” said Luis Scola, CEO of Pallacanestro Varese, “our utmost confidence in the sports justice system and our deep respect for its decisions. We are certain that in the Appeal the matter will be better investigated and the sanction will be lifted: we are already working on the appeal to bring out the correctness of our actions.”
