Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz, new challenge on the horizon
Sinner and Alcaraz could renew rivalry in Barcelona
Having dispelled the disappointment of not qualifying for the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 final, Jannik Sinner is already ready for his next challenge, the ATP 500 in Barcelona, a tournament in which the South Tyrolean could find Carlos Alcaraz again, should they both make it to the bottom.
Sinner, who will start directly from the second round, will debut against the winner of the match between Yibing Wu and Diego Schwartzman (assuming the Argentine manages to recover from the injury he suffered against Sinner in Monte Carlo itself). Alcaraz, the No. 1 seed and defending tournament champion, will also skip the first round: in the next round he will find either Belarusian Ivashka or Portuguese Nuno Borges.
Sinner and Alcaraz, finding themselves on the opposite side of their respective draw, might meet only in the final: that’s what many fans are hoping for, after the spectacular matches the two played, one against the other, in the semifinals of Indian Wells and Miami.
