Moto3, Stefano Nepa’s doubts: “Leg fracture? Can’t tell.”
After the fear, apprehension and some confusion take over.
Stefano Nepa is still not sure if he has pulled through. The 21-year-old centaur from Giulianova was the victim of a disastrous fall in the final stages of the Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas, but the consequences of the bang remain far from clear. And he himself confirmed this to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’.
Initial reports in fact spoke of a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula, then further updates from the medical center in Austin corrected the score and reported a severe contusion to the limb. Nepa, however, admitted that he still did not trust that report.
“At the moment you can’t tell, because the fibula is not the same as the last X-rays I took in February in Italy,” Nepa explained to ‘Sky Sport.’ “In fact I had a lot of pain and my leg is still hurting. The tibia, on the other hand, is fine. Now we wait for the next few hours. If there are any further problems I will spend the night here, otherwise we will return immediately to Italy and I will try to recover as soon as possible.”
