Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku’s future is now sealed

The second Nerazzurri adventure did not go as everyone hoped

He has not been the real Lukaku (at least until now). Beyond a few sporadic flashes of class, the Belgian, in his second Nerazzurri adventure, has disappointed expectations. Including several injuries, the Chelsea-owned striker has not left his mark (seven goals in 24 games overall).

His return to Chelsea is decided (as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport) with Inter not willing to go back to negotiate a new loan deal. The 20 million gross spent to get him proved too much for Zhang’s club, which is reportedly already evaluating other profiles for the attack, namely Firmino, Thuram, and the newly appointed Azzurri striker Retegui. Lukaku is called upon to have an epic end to the season to try to change the minds of the Nerazzurri top brass.
