Stefano Semeraro no-holds-barred on Jannik Sinner
Stefano Semeraro outspoken about Jannik Sinner: “He missed a huge opportunity.”
During the episode of “TennisMania Special Monte Carlo” broadcast on “Sport2U,” the editor of “Il Tennis Italiano” Stefano Semeraro spoke on Jannik Sinner’s performance in the Monte Carlo tournament.
“I think Jannik missed a great opportunity because it seemed like a tournament made for him. This does not mean that he is not a great player, we expect from him a victory in an important tournament and I am convinced that sooner or later he will do it, however, we have to admit that this time he missed a big opportunity. In his match with Rune, there is no lack of extenuating circumstances, but in tennis you have to be ready to adapt to everything. He knows that perfectly well, too, and I’m sure this defeat will give him even more charge for the upcoming tournaments,” said the director.
“Physically I think he has improved from last year. One aspect he still needs to work on is his serve, which in the match against Rune, especially in the third set, gave him up. When you concede so many break points, it is inevitable that sooner or later the opponent will take advantage of them. Kudos must also be given to Holger who was able to find countermeasures by making Jannik lose rhythm,” Semeraro concluded.
