Helmut Marko’s words

Helmut Marko returned to talk about Lewis Hamilton and his move to Mercedes: “Back in the day I gave Niki Lauda some information, for example, that he would be willing to change teams. Clearly I didn’t do it out of altruism. But at the time we thought Lewis would be less dangerous for us at Mercedes than at McLaren, the team he was racing for at the time.”

“In retrospect it was a complete miscalculation, although at the time it was not something that was foreseeable. But knowing everything that happened, I definitely wouldn’t do it again,” he admitted to Bild.

It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
