Spal, La Mantia: “I accept the whistles, now the goal comes next”
Spal, La Mantia: “I used to be obsessed with scoring goals.”
Spal striker Andrea La Mantia spoke at a press conference about his and the team’s moment: “My personal balance sheet obviously cannot be positive. My job is to score goals, when missing for a long time it is not easy, but in these months I have tried to work on performance and commitment to help the team.”
“I am very self-critical, and I am the first to be disappointed when the goal doesn’t come, I accept the fans’ booing and I will continue to work hard to try to turn it into applause. I repeat, it’s not a good year on a personal level, but such moments are there and you have to overcome them. I started the season well, then there was a period when as a team we could not create chances and we strikers were particularly affected. The psychological aspect matters a lot, I was obsessed with scoring goals and that didn’t help me, but now I’m focused on helping the team in any way I can.”
Ferrara are in the midst of the fight not to be relegated: “We are trying to make it clear that we are there and we are growing, the results say so: last Saturday against Brescia in the 2-2 draw we were a bit unlucky and naive, but we have all the cards to reach the goal.”
