Gunther Steiner, new dig at Mick Schumacher: “No more rookies.”
Here comes a new blow, although this time indirectly.
Gunther Steiner returns to hurl barbs at Mick Schumacher. The Haas team principal has made no secret in recent months that he has at least abruptly severed working relations with the young German driver, and in a new interview he reiterated the concept while not explicitly naming the man who until last season drove one of the American team’s two single-seaters.
“At this specific moment I would no longer have any desire to sign more rookie drivers,” Steiner told the microphones of ‘RacingNews365,’ “Right now we will put experienced drivers under contract. The possibility of finding a young talent always exists, but as a team now we need experience to continue to grow. We are the youngest team in Formula 1 and we need people who know how to do it, like Hulkenberg.” Who, indeed, was precisely Mick Schumacher’s replacement.
