Alessandro Diamanti announces retirement
Alessandro Diamanti says stop: on Saturday he will play his last professional game with the Western United jersey, a Melbourne club where he has played since 2019 and where he has collected 81 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 18 assists.
Announcing his farewell was the Blue footballer himself with a long post shared on his Instagram account, which reads, “After 23 years Saturday’s will be my last game. A million things to say, hundreds of photos to put up, thousands of people to thank, but I will be simple: I am a happy man. I who have always tried to be a footballer of the people, for the people, I who have always followed the true values of soccer. I have not been a 100 trophy player, but I have been a player who has felt loved: by my loved ones first and foremost and then by all the thousands of people who have followed me for more than 20 years. A love deeply towards, the love that you fans have constantly given me. It was and is my greatest victory. Now I am ready to face other challenges with the same values and with the same certainties that have accompanied me from the first moment I picked up the ball: passion, hard work, humility, enthusiasm, healthy madness and lots of laughter! Then, boo!”
