Loses a big name in the highly anticipated WTA tournament in Madrid.
Former world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova announced on her social channels that she is forfeiting due to a knee injury, suffered in the quarterfinal defeat in Stuttgart at the hands of Poland’s Iga Swiatek.
The Czech has never particularly shined in the Spanish capital in terms of results: she has already made it known that she hopes to return to play as early as Rome, where the next Masters 1000 will be staged.
